This Privacy Policy describes what data the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society (the "Society", "we") collects through this website, how we use it, and what rights users have. We have taken into account the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), since the site is accessible to users in the EU, as well as Israel's Protection of Privacy Law.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, with offices in Jerusalem (25 Dabbagha Street, P.O.Box 991, 91009 Jerusalem, Israel) and Munich (Am Perlacher Forst 190, 81545 München, Germany). For data-related questions, contact admin@ippo-jerusalem.info.
2. What data we collect
We may collect: (a) data you provide voluntarily — name, email, message — when you contact us via the addresses listed on the site; (b) donation data, which is processed directly by our third-party payment service, Givebutter (we do not receive or store payment card details); (c) technical data when you visit the site — IP address, device and browser type, and cookies necessary for the site to function (for example, storing your session on Cloudflare infrastructure).
3. How we use your data
Collected data is used to respond to inquiries, administer and secure the website, process donations through Givebutter, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal data to third parties and do not use it to serve personalized advertising.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
For users in the EU, data is processed on the basis of: your consent (for example, when you voluntarily contact us by email), necessity for performance of a contract (processing a donation), and the Society's legitimate interests (keeping the site secure and operational).
5. Third-party services
Donations are processed by Givebutter in accordance with its own privacy policy. The site is hosted on Wix and Cloudflare infrastructure, which may process technical data while delivering content. We recommend reviewing those services' own privacy policies separately.
6. Cookies
The site uses only strictly necessary cookies — for example, a session cookie that keeps the site functioning on Cloudflare infrastructure. The site does not currently use any analytics or marketing cookies. When the Givebutter donation form (see "Donations") is loaded, Givebutter may set its own cookies in accordance with its own privacy policy.
7. International data transfers
Because the Society has offices in both Israel and Germany, and the site runs on international infrastructure (Wix, Cloudflare), data may be transferred between countries, including outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognized under EU data protection law, in particular the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses entered into with the relevant service providers.
8. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law.
9. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your data, to object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
10. How to submit a request
To request access to your data, an exported copy, correction, or deletion, email admin@ippo-jerusalem.info with the subject line "Data request", specifying which request you are making (access, deletion, export, correction, or withdrawal of consent) and information that lets us identify you (for example, the email address you previously contacted us from). We may ask for additional information to verify your identity before acting on the request. We review and respond to such requests within 30 days; this period may be extended where necessary, in which case we will tell you why. Where applicable, exported data is provided in a structured, machine-readable format (e.g., JSON or CSV). If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority — in particular, the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, BayLDA), or the supervisory authority in your own EU country of residence.
11. Children
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 16.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, along with the date of the last update.
